prenatal yoga.

in my current state, there is nothing more fulfilling and really just plain hard than prenatal yoga. i love feeling my body lengthen and my muscles getting stronger. i love knowing i'm strengthening my body to prepare for the beautiful birth of my baby. but, gosh, it's tough on this old body! i just try to remember how it keeps me in shape and strong for delivery, and then i'm all for it.
happy healthy mamas = happy healthy babies.

candy.

our wedding day. by joshua brown photography.

i have a snickers candy bar waiting in my freezer should i ever need one. i'm still trying to decide if it should be my reward.

i am thinking of saving it for until after a big race i'm still deciding if i want to run.

it is a 10K, next sunday. i feel like i need a new challenge, you know because marriage is so easy (haha, i kid, i kid). i mean marriage is quite lovely (it was a good choice to marry my best friend) but i am after a physical challenge. the longest i've ever run is 4.5 miles and i thought i would die. but a 10K? I think i can do it, even if i have to walk a little. i feel like i need to, in a way.

and then after that sweet bliss of running around my neighborhood with all my sweet neighbors, i can sit down on my brown couch, peel off the wrapper, and eat my well-deserved snickers bar.

reward candy.

**UPDATE: i registered for the race! i can't believe i did it.

On exercise

I'm going to be bookending the month of April with workouts. After a 6 month workout-hiatus, I am going back to the gym. I hope to be able to workout a few times a week throughout the month of April, though this might prove difficult with my upcoming work schedule. If I cannot work out with the frequency I would like to, I will atleast complete my goal of bookending the month with another work out on May 1.

I packed up my backpack this morning with all the necessities. Grubby tshirt, workout shorts, old sneaks, fully charged iPod, white socks, and hair ties to keep the sweat off my bangs. It felt so foreign and I was sad to think that I used to do this nearly every day. What happened, body? Why did you give up on the working out? The weird thing is - I have dropped about 2 pant sizes in the past 5 months without working out once. I do a lot of city walking and a lot of lunch skipping. But besides the fact that no pants fit me that well anymore - my biceps aren't the size of boulders and my stomach cannot be compared to a washboard. Yet.

I did 50 sit ups on Friday morning before work and I spent the whole of the afternoon with a tummy ache. Coincidence or am I really that out of shape? Have any tips for staying motivated? Especially when my huge workout goal is to work out 3-4 times a week for only one month. Not that hard. But how does one hold themselves to these goals??

Musculator Atrophy Red Alert!!

Last night TH and I were talking, ya know - just shootin the shit. While we were on the couch, I was kind of hunched over and I got the GREAT idea to show him The Bagel. For those of you who are less fortunate than I, and do not know what a bagel is, allow me to explain.
You know when you hunch over and your tummy gets some cute little rolls? Well, if you centralize those rolls by forming your thumbs and forefingers in a circle over your bellybutton area, then squeeze - tada! A Bagel!

I showed TH the rich and fabulous life of the Bagel and it was met, not with wonderment and a standing ovation like it DESERVES, but instead cringing and a lot of murmuring. As if, TH. I introduced a wonderful thing into your life last night, so learn to recognize.

Secondly, I decided it would be a good idea to roll up my sleeves on my tshirt because I'm just hot like this guy:
Anyway I started looking for my hot tricep to show off, cause lets be honest - that's how you really get a man - when I realized IT WAS GONE!!
My loving triceps, with whom I've had many good times and with whom I've scored many boyfriends and hot action, have fled. I have neglected them and they are but a shadow of my past.

Ladies and ladies, it is time to get back to the gym. Push ups every day! Come back to me, triceps!
