sick. sadface.

well, winter has descended upon us and so has cold season. and henry has his first cold. it is the saddest thing to see a baby struggling to breathe with a nose full of stuff! i feel so bad for him, and he just looks at me like, "mom, what the heck is going on? help me!"

we're just laying low and trying to help him get as much rest as possible. pobrecito. i missed out on meeting my newest nephew, jake, who was born the day after christmas. i really want henry and jake to meet while jake is still little tiny newborn because i'm sure the difference will be hilarious. henry is so big already, nearly grown out of his 0-3 month cloths and i'm buying him a briefcase tomorrow so he can get a job and start contributing to this family. seriously though, i can't believe how quickly he's growing up.

any tips on getting through that first baby cold? and helping them get better?

Poor Henry. I always found steamed up bathrooms and lots of baths to help with congestion. Best wishes for a fast recovery!

Yeah keeping him upright will help. Maybe have him take naps in his little rocker chair instead of crib

My kids sleep in swings when sick to be more upright - even through the night - and then a humidifier always helps! Good luck!

found your blog from rockstar diaries and love your photos and writing... been admiring from afar and finally decided to comment! i have to recommend the nose frida for a stuffed up baby. our little gal is 4 months and when she got her first cold at 6 weeks, we found rave reviews on amazon for it and love it. it looks a little weird, but totally works.

that along with a warm mist humidifer and saline drops at night did the trick. good luck and i hope your little guy feels better soon!

A little late in commenting...but when my wee ones got colds I always try to have them sleep more upright like someone mentioned in a previous comment. Finn was born the first of November and seriously was sick all winter long! I finally moved the swing in to our room and made it his permanent bed!!! Teasing...but that is what it felt like! Plus the rocking helped him sleep better. I always had a few moms say that getting them used to rocking and being upright wasn't good for them...that they would learn to sleep like that and wouldn't adjust to a crib, but Finn really had no issues with that. He slept better in the rocking swing and then I slept better...happy baby = happy mommy! :) I hope he feels better soon....he sure is a cutie!!

i love that photo! i love his hat!

colds and sick babies are the worst. i'm not sure if it has already been said but the best thing that has helped E with her colds is running a hot shower in the bathroom, closing the door and just sitting in there with her letting all the steam do its thing. she just cuddles up to me on my chest and breathes better. it also helped reduce that horrible fever she had back in december. i think i was telling you about that... i was so bad. so if he ever gets a fever, do that!
